guys, i love hoaxes. i absolutely love those patch-stitched-together taxidermy beasties that you see vintage pictures of from old side-shows. when i was a kid going to natural museums i was naturally attracted to the old four-legged calves and lambs, the freaky-deaky two - or sometimes one-and-a-half - headed-animals. there's something so tempting about a specimen-under-glass; because you can't reach it to touch it you can never really cement it as "real" or "unreal", only as "there", "evidence", a possibility.

as a sculptor, i have to figure out ways to really hook my audience's attention. sculpting "in the round" is one way; that is, sculpting a full object. when it is a complete object, one you can walk around, then you are compelled to walk around it.

but sometimes, putting that little veil, that glass jar, that "do not disturb" sign, makes an object all the more tantalizing.

she was sculpted with a foil armature and super sculpey. i painted her with acrylics and put her in a glass jar with water and just a smidge of Pepsi to make the water dark and murky.
