Miniature Needle Felt Paint Horse
Available for sale on Etsy

While it can be fun to make large needle felt dolls, sometimes I get the urge to work on miniatures. The challenge of getting all the life-like detail in such a small package is great, and I enjoy the problem-solving aspect of scaling down such a large creature into a very small form.

So I decided to make a tiny needle felt paint horse, in an effort to practice miniaturizing details. The legs presented a unique challenge, since I didn't use a wire or foam armature, which was part of the reason why I decided to keep the horse glued down and displayed on the pedestal: that way the legs wouldn't have to hold up the weight of the horse's body. Working on the face was a lot of fun, because I liked shrinking down the details of a horse's face to such a small scale.

Lone Black Wolf, Needle Felt Diorama
Available for sale on Etsy

Sometimes, like the little black wolf here, you have to strike out from the world you know into the wilderness to find what you're looking for. Even if you're scared, even if you don't know what's out there, seeking a new life and a new pack is always better than staying in a world that doesn't suit you.

Playing with this diorama was so rewarding, and remembering the process and how much fun I had with the challenge of fitting what seems like an entire world into one small box makes me want to try it again. Maybe this winter I'll try again, with a new scene...

Gray Wolf Eye Pendant
Available for sale on Etsy

If you love nature and the forest, then the Gray Wolf Eye Pendant is the perfect accessory for you!

I modeled this eye pendant off of one of my favorite animals, the gray wolf. I've been drawing, sculpting, and painting them for years, and their one characteristic that I am always drawn to is their eyes. If the praise I got at my last art fair is any indicator, I did a good job capturing that essence!

Like my other Wolf Eye Pendants, this one measures roughly 2"w X 2 1/2"l X 1/2"d -so it's large enough to draw attention without being heavy or bulky.

I absolutely love making these eye pendants! I've hand-made a polymer clay mold from which I can cast each eye, and I hand-make each eyeball out of polymer clay and clear resin for that glass-like look. From there, I hand-paint each eye to give it an individual look and character, and finish it up with an eye-screw setting and faux suede cord for wearing. Even though I use a mold, each eye is totally unique, since I had hand-painted and sculpted flourishes to each one.

If you like this one, feel free to take a look at my Etsy or drop me a note to request a personally-made one!

White Wolf Eye Pendant
Available for sale on Etsy

White wolves live in the tundra, and this White Wolf Eye Pendant is the perfect accessory for anyone who loves winter and the wild spirit of the wolf!

This one got a lot of attention at my first art fair of the season, and the one comment I got on it was that it appeared so lifelike everyone was convinced the eye was glass! That's nice to hear, especially since it came from my first "trial run" of eye-making. I'm always so pleased when people like my art so much.

Gold Dragon Eye Pendant
Available for sale on Etsy

The Gold Dragon signifies loyalty, dignity, peace, and luck. Every time you wear it, you're sure to draw upon the characteristics of the Gold Dragon.

This is one of the very first Dragon Eye pendant I ever made, but it's still one of my favorites. Since it hasn't sold yet, I like to wear it around every once in a while to show it off, and to hopefully share some of its power.

The dragon eye pendants measure roughly 2 1/2"w X 2 1/4"l X 1/2"d, so it's just large enough to draw attention but not so big that it's bulky and clunky to wear.

United States
I'm a sculptor and doll-maker living and working in Ohio. I primarily work in needle felting and mixed-media, occasionally venturing into painting, making pottery, sewing, knitting, weaving, and writing (because life would get boring if I focus on just one media.)

I work at Decoy Art Studio as the Master Sidekick, and I sometimes help our Kiln Master in the clay lab. I absolutely love my job, and if you're ever in the area you should come visit us!

Sometimes I model and act, mostly as a hobby.

I have a bunch of crazy pets; a cat, a leopard gecko, two rats (that I hand-raised from one week old), and two ferrets. We all make one crazy little family.

I hope you enjoy my art, and feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions!
Interests
So, if you've followed me for a while you may have noticed that I've been less active than is usual for even myself. I just got back from John C Campbell Folk School a little over 48 hours ago, marking a long end do the busiest summer of my life...

Since the beginning of 2016 I've: been assistant-coordinator of one of my city's biggest art and music festivals; switched from being assistant-manager of a pet store to assistant-manager of an art studio; participated in said art and music festival; hand-raised a litter of rats; travelled to Chicago IL, Louisville KY, and Brasstown NC; helped work on a cool indie movie; taken a week-long course on working in clay; participated in a movie premier in a big city; re-writing and editing a book with one of my best friends so that hopefully we can start releasing it soon; been collaborating with a business partner so that I can make modular ball-jointed armatures for my dolls; advertising for the first annual Celtic Fest Ohio, as well as planning and collaborating with the Ohio Renaissance Festival; and attempted to have a personal life to boot.

On top of everything else that's been going on in my life I've been getting a divorce... Well, disillusionment, but that's just semantics. So not only has my life been crazy-busy with career, business, acting, art, and personal-stuff I've been dealing with all of that and trying to rebuild a home-life for myself: finding a new apartment, packing, moving, unpacking, and general adulting out the wazoo.

Don't worry, though, because I have been needle felting and making art, it's just been hard for me to make the time to advertise it on websites other than Facebook. Luckily, my new life should afford me more time to actually post stuff and show off all my art - so even if you haven't been following me on Facebook I've got a backlog of art to post and show you.

Not to mention that I've got one art sale or fair each month for the next four months starting in just two weeks... So I'll have a lot to show off this fall.

As for all the creative endeavors: expect to hear me yammer on about books, movies, and other forms of creative entertainment over the next year. I've got my hands in many, many pots and it's time I start sharing the home-cooked goodies with you.

So I'm sorry that I've been so inactive, but here's to making the rest of 2016 fruitful and full of art!

Your needle felting = perfection. Teach me your ways, wise one!

Also pay no mind to that asshole you posted about on tumblr. Theyre obvobviously ignorant and arrogant.

Thank you so much dear! I would love to teach anyone and everyone about my craft and art - if you have any questions about a particular medium, process, or piece please let me know and I'll explain it to the best of my abilities!

I would eventually like to make tutorials, but first I have to figure out what my watchers want to learn ;)

As for the commenter: I'm mostly just flattered! I like living the "genderfuck" life, and if somebody mislabels me it honestly just makes me proud that I'm pulling it off! I feel sorry for them, that they have so much time to waste and so few friends that they feel it appropriate to attempt to insult random people on DA. If I had that much free time, I'd be spending it all with my friends!
